LAURA OJEDA BÄR

All of Laura Ojeda Bär’s works must be thought as a specific coordinate linking three conceptual pairs: objects and images (presence), presentation and representation (language) and creative joy and aesthetic pleasure (sanctuary). Each new work of Ojeda Bär pinpoints a pressure spot on this map and reflects on those subjects through figurative painting.
She’s been investigating the limits between painting and sculpture, creating hybrid works where nothing is what it seems. Visually, Ojeda Bär is interested in working with images in a no-hierarchy manner. There is no particular theme, but rather the overwhelming access to information we have today and how high museum worthy culture has got to break free from them and come back to play.

Laura Ojeda Bär was born in Buenos Aires, 1986.
Ojeda Bär enrolled in the BFA in IUNA, where she studied under Carlos Bissolino and his team of artist-professors (Viviana Blanco, Itamar Hartavi, Agustín Fernández y Pablo Siquier), while attending the private studios of some of the most important argentine artists of previous generations.
In 2013 she was selected to be part of Centro de Investigaciones Artísticas (CIA Agent) of the Start Foundation, and PAC (Prácticas Artísticas Contemporáneas). She later atended Programa de Artistas 2019-2020, Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. All of them yearly art programs in Buenos Aires. In 2018 she went to Iceland, to NES artists’ residency.

She made several solo shows (2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019) and group ones, as well as participated in local and international fairs and prizes. Since 2015 she’s also an independent curator.
